About Moxa

Moxa has made industrial networking equipment since 1987. The company began in serial communication and grew into most of what connects a plant network today: Ethernet switches, secure routers, serial device servers, protocol gateways, wireless gear and industrial computers. It is headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and runs its Americas business from Brea, California. If you work around control systems you have probably seen the name on a DIN rail already, because integrators have been putting Moxa switches and serial servers into cabinets for decades. That familiarity counts for something on a small team. A technician who has already configured a Moxa switch is not starting from zero with a Moxa firewall, and the hardware is built for the same cabinets, with DIN-rail mounting and wide-temperature models.

What we carry from Moxa is the security end of that range. An industrial secure router does at the IT/OT boundary what an office firewall does at the internet edge, with one difference: it reads industrial protocols. The EDR-G9004 secure router puts firewall, NAT, VPN and routing in one four-port appliance. Its deep packet inspection covers Modbus TCP/UDP, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850 MMS, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA and Siemens S7, so a rule can be about what a connection is doing and not only which addresses are talking. The EDF-G1002-BP is a two-port Gigabit LAN firewall with intrusion prevention and deep packet inspection. It is the smaller of the two and suits the spot directly in front of a machine or cell you want to protect.

Both products are listed with a price, a datasheet and the specifications you need to write them into a design or a purchase order. Orders ship direct from Moxa with tracking sent to you, and items that need a quote are marked. Moxa also co-founded TXOne Networks with Trend Micro, and we carry TXOne's malware scanning tools as well. If you are deciding between the router and the LAN firewall, or wondering whether your existing perimeter firewall already covers the job, ask one of our OT cyber experts. Tell us where the device will sit, which protocols cross it and whether you need remote access, and we will tell you which one fits.
