Product Details

The Portable Aggregator TAP copies 100% full duplex traffic between two (2) network devices on 10/100/1000M Copper networks and then aggregates the copies to one or multiple out-of-band monitoring tools. The Aggregator TAP offers network engineers excellent flexibility by supporting aggregation, breakout, and regeneration/SPAN modes. The TAP is unmanaged and simple to configure the modes with DIP Switches on the back of the TAP. Most importantly, it is impossible for data to flow from the out-of-band monitoring tools to the network via the monitoring ports in the TAP because of its hardware-based Data Diode design. In the event that power to the TAP is lost, the relay circuitry will fail closed providing a connection between network devices. This built-in failsafe feature allows traffic to continuously flow if the TAP loses power. The TAP is invisible to hackers because there is no IP or MAC address.

Why Choose Garland Copper TAPS?

  • Provide 100% full duplex traffic visibility
  • Aggregate traffic down to one link
  • Unidirectional Data Diode design
  • Supports aggregation, tap 'breakout,' and regeneration/SPAN modes.
  • Supports Link Speed Synchronization.
  • Supports jumbo frames.

Who Should Deploy This Technology?

Customers with unmanaged switches who are looking to gain visibility into critical links within an OT environment need to utilize a Network TAP to gain access to the traffic before sending it on to an IDS or other monitoring tool. TAPs are commonly used throughout all OT verticals.

What Other Options Should Be Considered When Deploying This Technology?

If you do not have a Firewall between OT and IT, The Fortinet rugged series is a great option for perimeter security and deploying data diodes/taps can provide lower level segmentation on the network without the need to manage multiple firewalls. Taps may also be useful when aggregating data to send to security gateways such as IOT365 SIEM product.
