Product Details

Hardware Data Diodes provide network traffic for out-of-band monitoring, specifically designed not to send traffic back onto the network. These purpose-built network hardware devices enforce one-way data flow for SPAN links with physical hardware separation, guaranteeing protection of critical digital systems, such as industrial control systems (ICS), from inbound cyber threats. The portable Hardware Date Diode accepts two (2) SPAN inputs in ports A and B and sends out copies of each SPAN input individually out ports C and D with no aggregation.

Why Choose Garland Span Taps?

  • Physical hardware separation guarantees unidirectional traffic between network segments
  • Supports 10/100/1000M (1G)
  • 100% secure and invisible; no IP address, no MAC address; cannot be hacked
  • Plug & Play easy installation, no configuration
  • DIN Rail mount and Industrial accessories available
  • Made, tested and supported in the USA

Who Should Deploy This Technology?

Customers who have managed switches and are looking to add data diode functionality to ensure that traffic cannot be sent back onto the network. Data diodes can be found most commonly in high security environments, such as federal defense and critical infrastructure, where they serve as connections between two or more networks of differing security classifications. This technology can be found at the industrial control level for such facilities as nuclear power plants, power generation and safety critical systems like railway networks.

What Other Options Should Be Considered When Deploying This Technology?

If you do not have a Firewall between OT and IT, The Fortinet rugged series is a great option for perimeter security and deploying data diodes/taps can provide lower level segmentation on the network without the need to manage multiple firewalls. Taps may also be useful when aggregating data to send to security gateways such as IOT365 SIEM product.
